Stay up to date on your maintenence - Tire Care
Proper Inflation
The single greatest cause of tire damage is improper inflation. Your tires loose pressure over time, which causes unnecessary stress, early and irregular tread wear and poor gas mileage. Plus, tires can't deliver their best performance without the right air pressure. In this economy, gas prices are higher, and improper inflated tires means more cost for you.
Rotation
Secondly, have American Brake and Foreign Car Service roate your tires. Ideally you should have your tires rotated every 5,000 to 8,000 miles – and more frequently if you do most of your driving around town or if you own a front-wheel drive car.
Tread Depth
Don't underestimate the value of a penny! With this simple test, a penny can buy you peace of mind when it comes to your tires and safety. Place a penny head first into several tread grooves across the tire. If you always see the top of Lincoln's head, your treads are too shallow and worn. When you find this is the case your tires need to be replaced. If part of Lincoln's head is always covered by the tread, you have more than 2/32 of an inch of tread depth remaining. This most likely means you do not need new tires.
